CONTEXT

Valley 21 is the symbolic connection between the frantic 21st century life and the essence of life in a pastoral community rooted in pristine undisturbed nature. The valley – of approximately 68 acres – is located east of Brasov in Vama Buzaului, Romania and is giving new meaning to luxury. Luxury not as in extravagance, but luxury as in living the essence of qualities.

The group of buyers that we are aiming for is a new generation that is in control of the 21st century today and also have a new sense of communality away from the individuality that increasingly floods the world over the last decades. A sense of shared responsibility within the society they live in, with the family the foster and love.

Valley 21 holds the values that they live for. The valley is a shared space with a community of likeminded people, where they can seek privacy in their homes with their family, or take part of the community of owners to share good time or take common governance over the space.
The new responsibility is towards people, is towards nature, an awareness that we are living in a delicate ecological balance on earth.

ASSIGNMENT

Valley 21 consists of three distinguished landscape identities:

The northern slope of the valley is mainly grassland and horseshoe shaped mixed forest that divides the northern slope into three areas. In these areas a total of 60 villa’s is planned.

The southern slope is mainly pine forest and not included in the development. Therefore it functions as a view, scenery for the Valley. The first hill, at the entrance of the Valley is part of the project though, consisting of grassland and mixed forest. On this hill a program of a (wellness-) hotel and some rental units are projected.

In between the two slopes lays the basin of the river-valley that meanders through the lower parts of the Valley. On occasion a watercourse is running from the northern slope, crosses the road and finds the river.

Building The Future provides ‘Stijlgroep landscape and urban design‘ with the challenge to create a master plan, landscape design, urban design and architecture for the first development-phase, from our awareness that ‘Landscape is leading’. In such a way that this project in realization meets up with the quality goals set for this valley and thus distinguishes itself towards other projects. Reaching the (inter)national media is an important sub-goal in this whole process.
